I was researching advertising on google as I wanted to find which companies are at the top and so on, when I came across this link to the guradian's website: http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2008/may/19/asa.advertising
Where i found some really interesting information about adverts that have been on the Television recently.
This specific subject caught my eye basically the ad watchdog has received several complaints that BT's TV ad featuring Dragons' Den star Peter Jones being harassed by the Gremlins is frightening and distressing to young children.
The Advertising Standards Authority has received five complaints from parents that the TV ad is distressing, frightening, disturbing and scary for children.
Viewers who have seen the BT Gremlins commercial running during the day and in the early evening have complained and the ASA will now decide if a full investigation is warranted.
The TV ad, which was created by ad agency Swarm, already carries an "ex-kids" restriction.
This means that the TV ad cannot be shown in or around programmes targeted at children or that have a specific appeal to them.
